WPC combines the properties and advantages of wood and plastics, while the underlying materials and moulding processes determine some of the properties of the WPC. WPC has a high density of 0.6~1.2cm 3/g and also has a large hardness, a hardness greater than 58. Compared with wood, WPC has good mechanical properties, which shows that the deformation resistance of the material is controllable, the hardness is large and has good wear resistance.
WPC has good waterproof performance, its water content is not more than 2%, water absorption expansion rate is less than 1%. Plastic is not easy to absorb water and deformation, wood water absorption rate of 20.6%, and PE, PVC, pp as the substrate of the WPC water absorption rate of 0.6%, 0.5%~0.8%, 0.5%, it is obvious that the water absorption rate of WPC compared to wood is much smaller, only for the 2.4%~3.9% of wood.
WPC has a strong corrosion resistance compared to natural wood. This is mainly due to the fact that the WPC is made from a mixture of plant fibres and high-density resins, while the resin encloses the wood fibres, avoiding fungal intrusion and causing damage to the material. As a result, WPC has strong corrosion resistance.
